A review by our Postgrad Student from the Faculty of Arts & Social Sciences, Ms Carmen Lee Kar Men who hails from Kota Kinabalu. She has enjoyed reading titles on Kindle tremendously and particularly like reading “The Beautiful and Damned”.

The Beautiful and Damned is another gem by F. Scott Fitzgerald first published in 1922. It explores the downfall of a materialistic man during the Jazz Age of the early 1920s who“counted his chickens before they hatch”. Anthony Patch is under the impression that he will inherit millions from his grandfather’s vast wealth only to find that his name is not listed. A must read for all Fitzgerald’s fans as scholars claimed that this particular novel depicts his own life with his wife Zelda. This novel is not uber-tear- jerking as compared to The Great Gatsby but as the storyline turns, I did shed a few drops of tears.
