Library Rejuvenation

The library is always working on ways to improve services and facilities for your use. Two of our branches are undergoing rejuvenation phases as we upgrade and adapt to the changing needs of our users. With future modernized spaces, users can look forward to see what will be in store by year end. The following libraries are having major renovations done, which require some parts or all of the libraries’ areas closed:

TJ Danaraj Library

The Medical Library has been in operations since 1963 and has vintage features because no major renovation has been undertaken since its inception. It is located at Lecture Hall DK1 and Lecture Hall DK2, 3rd Floor, H Block, Medical Faculty, University of Malaya and has over 100,000 copies of printed items including books, journals and theses. Since the building is over 50 years of age without any major upgrading, most of its infrastructure and facilities are old, worn out and out of touch with current trends and needs of a research and academic library.

Za’ba Memorial Library (PPZ)

PPZ used to be known as the Malay and National Collection Division, located at the Ground and 1st Floor of the Main Library. In 1997, it moved to the current building and the collection has grown to include government publication, local journals, Dutch and Pintado Collection at Level 1, special, personal and heritage collection at Level 2.Many of its items are historically significant and invaluable due to its uniqueness and rarity.

The rejuvenation of both libraries are expected to be completed by the end of 2018. The new spaces would enable the library to serve the campus community as they collaborate, learn and grow. Watch out for updates here on progress and the openings.
