One Thousand Million Smiles… Sudirman Haji Arshad Exhibition

‘One Thousand Million Smiles Exhibition … Sudirman Haji Arshad’ – is a one of a kind, mini exhibition of the late Datuk Sudirman Haji Arshad serving to honor his legacy as Asia’s Number One Entertainer. The main objective of the exhibition is to commemorate Datuk Sudirman Haji Arshad or Sudirman as an alumnus of University of Malaya and to showcase the legendary entertainer’s achievements and contributions to the Malaysian music industry. Officiated on 1^st March 2018 by Datuk Aznil Haji Nawawi, a University Malaya Alumni Ambassador and a hardcore enthusiast of the late Sudirman Haji Arshad, the exhibition is now open to the public and is expected to reach more audiences. It is hoped that his success in education as well as an entertainer would be a source of inspiration and a role model for the young generation.

Datuk Aznil Haji Nawawi in his opening remarks said that the late Sudirman was his idol and he was understandably amazed by Sudirman’s incredible onstage showmanship and performance, down-to-earth charm, kindness and his ability to draw a sizable crowd of fans from different ages, races and different backgrounds. He had followed Sudirman’s success closely and his decision to pursue his studies at University of Malaya was driven by his desire to follow the footsteps of the late Sudirman.

The collections featured in this exhibition includes his writings, posters, press releases, plates, audio cassettes, CDs, photographs, acting films, books, magazines, articles, replicas of his ‘Sudi’ beverages and theses written on him. Interesting exhibits like his law degree at the university in 1980s, his first album, wedding invitation card, as well as articles published on him was exhibited. The exhibition also shared his personal information covering personal biodata, achievements, donations and others. The exhibition will be on display from February 2018 till May 2018.
